Have you ever noticed how many different opinions there can be about one passage of scripture or one Bible doctrine? It’s enough to make you dizzy.

You don’t have to go very far, or look very hard, in order get an expert opinion about what the Bible says, and Greater Than Gold Bible Studies were created with this in mind. In our opinion, you don’t need another opinion.

Even though there are great scholars and teachers of the Bible, volumes of commentaries written about the Bible, and gifted pastors who preach and teach the Word, there is no substitute for the Word itself.

Personally, I want to know what is in the Bible and what the Bible says, and I want to know it for myself. It is not enough to have somebody else tell me what the Bible says.  Don’t replace time with the Bible itself with video and audio recordings of your favorite Bible subject matter expert.

I close with a warning. Since I mentioned substitutions, it’s fair to point out that personal Bible study is not a substitution for church attendance, hearing the Word preached and taught or the assembling of ourselves together. Personal Bible study is an enhancement to an active church life, and should be an accompaniment, not a replacement.
