Is Anything Greater Than Gold?

By Reverend Michael Farias

The other day I was in the company of the Vice President of our new bank.  She was searching for a bankcard that had been sent to the branch.  She asked, “what is the name of the organization?”  I boldly responded, “Greater Than Gold”.  She replied, “Oh, I like the name, but is it true?"

Of course, I gave her a short lesson.

Psalm 19:10 ESV - More to be desired are they than gold,

even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.

The preceding verses of the Psalm 19:10 identify what it is the writer is referencing.

They include: the law of the Lord, testimony of the Lord, precepts of the Lord, commandments of the Lord, and rules of the Lord. The sum total of these come down to one thing - the Word of the Lord.

The word of the Lord is greater than gold and is more to be desired than gold.

Gold (money) is valuable and is desired by many and in fact, many obsess to possess, however, it cannot compare in value to the word of the Lord.
